What should I ask a digital marketing agency before hiring them?

Ask who owns the ad accounts, who does the work, how fees and ad spend are split, what gets reported every month, and what happens if it does not work.

Ask these seven questions. The answers tell you almost everything.

  • Who owns the ad accounts and the website? It should be you. Always.
  • Can I see results for a business like mine? Real numbers, not just nice designs.
  • Who will actually do the work? Your team, or passed on to a freelancer?
  • How much goes to the agency and how much to ads? These should be separate lines.
  • What will you report every month? Look for enquiries and cost per enquiry.
  • How long before I see results? Ads can work in days. SEO takes three to six months. Be wary of anyone promising faster.
  • What if it does not work? A confident agency does not lock you in. We have no lock-in for the first 60 days.
